Couples Therapist In California and Virginia.
Helping individuals and couples reconnect with themselves and the people they love
Hi, I’m Dr. Taisha Mercogliano
Couples Therapist, Sex Therapy-Informed Professional, and Relationships specialist Serving California and Virginia
I am glad you are here.
Seeking support can feel like a vulnerable first step, and finding the right therapist is an important part of the process. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported as we work together toward healing, growth, and meaningful connection.
My Philosophy
I believe that healing begins with awareness.
When we slow down and approach our experiences with curiosity rather than judgment, we create space for understanding, growth, and meaningful change. Many of the patterns that shape our relationships and emotional lives developed as ways of protecting us, yet over time they can leave us feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck.
Therapy offers an opportunity to gently explore these patterns, deepen self-awareness, and strengthen your connection with yourself and others.
My work is grounded in mindfulness, compassion, and the belief that lasting change happens through presence, authenticity, and relationship. Together, we create a space where healing can unfold naturally and where new possibilities for connection, resilience, and growth can emerge.
My Approach
I believe that healing begins with awareness.
Often, the patterns that create pain in our lives were once strategies that helped us survive difficult experiences. Together, we'll explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment.
My goal is to help you build healthier relationships, deepen self-understanding, and create meaningful change that lasts beyond the therapy room.
A little More about me.
When I'm not working with clients, I enjoy spending time in nature, exploring mindfulness practices, developing relationship retreats, and engaging in creative hobbies. One of my favorite pastimes is playing tabletop role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons, which reflects my appreciation for storytelling, collaboration, creativity, and the many ways people grow through shared experiences.
I believe that healing and growth are lifelong journeys, and I'm continually learning both professionally and personally. Some of my greatest joys come from helping others strengthen their relationships, discover their own resilience, and create meaningful change in their lives.
At the end of the day, I consider it a privilege to witness people's stories and walk alongside them during some of life's most important moments.
“I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be Reduced by It”
Beyond My Credentials
While I specialize in relationship therapy, couples counseling, sex therapy-informed care, trauma, anxiety, and life transitions, what matters most to me is creating a space where clients feel seen, heard, and understood.
I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals and couples within BIPOC communities and providing culturally responsive care that honors the diverse experiences each client brings into the therapy room.
My work is rooted in the belief that healing happens through connection, authenticity, and a willingness to grow. It is a privilege to walk alongside clients as they strengthen relationships, navigate challenges, and create meaningful change in their lives.
